Backbone of the Land

To Native American ancestors they were the "backbone of the land." To early pioneers blazing trails across the Great Plains, they were the "shining mountains." And to those hopelessly in love with the park after it was set aside in 1910, it became the "Crown of the Continent." ~ Gordon Sullivan

Explored Sept 14, 2012

Early morning light paints Grinnell Point a lovely shade of red, and the mist rising off of Swiftcurrent Lake was an added bonus. If I remember correctly, we were actually on our way somewhere else but when we saw this scene, we just had to stop for a few shots :-) Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend; still sorting through hundreds of images and processing them; should keep me busy for quite some time. As always, thanks for stopping by to visit!!!!
