Ozzy Project: The First Year
Ozzy's first 365 days book on blurb is available as an iBook download for only $9.99! That's 365 days of Ozzy on your iPad or iPhone device. Now, that's a bargain!

My French Bulldog Puppy. He was born on May 13th, 2009, which makes him a Taurus. His name is Ozzy, after Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness. (We also call him Ozymandias, king of kings, and Asiago Cheese!).

I got him on July 31st in New Hampshire with my friend Ramona. Ozzy has had 6 pee accidents in the house since July 31st. Not bad! He sleeps in his crate all night without peeing or crying. He loves to play and chew.

When Ozzy goes for a walk down the street, he always brings back a stick, rock, leaf or walnut to show off to his new family. Ozzy doesn't like walking much. (He does like to walk now, and actually hikes trails on mild days.) He likes to carry sticks, walnuts, leaves in his mouth. I've saved a collection in the backyard for him. I toss them around the yard.

Ozzy is now 6 1/2 months old near the end of November. He's been neutered. He is about 19 pounds of solid muscle. We hike in the woods on blue trails. He's like a mountain goat. Very active.

Update for February 25th: Ozzy is over 9 months old and weighs 21 pounds! He is a sweetheart. He learned how to bark, sit, lie down on command. I taught him to give his paw when he was younger. He learned it in less than one day. He is very in tune with me and the family.

Update: Ozzy is now over one year old. He turned one year on May 13th 2010. Today is June 20th 2010. Ozzy has a girlfriend down the street named Fiona. We visit her when we can. He plays and rolls around in the yard with her. She lets him win at tug of war with sticks or other toys. Ozzy also goes to our local dog park where he is quite famous and has other girlfriends. (Shh! Don't tell!) Ozzy loves to meet all of the people at the dog park. he loves kids too. Ozzy has learned to wade in the brook behind the dog park. He goes in up to his waist. I'm sure he will be playing a lot in that brook this year.

Update: August 16, 2010: Ozzy had surgery on his left back knee. He had a luxating patella, (floating knee). The surgery was a success and he is healing nicely. It's genetic and seen in this breed, as it is in many smaller dogs. I was quite worried the pain that Ozzy would have, but he's doing fine, even with the pain pills wearing off. Today (August 19th), he is walking fine on the leg, and I have to keep him contained from running, jumping, and climbing for 8 weeks. This is going to be tough. This day on the 16th marks 295 days of this 365 project. Updates to follow.

October 7th. 2010:
Ozzy is doing quite well with his physical therapy. He walks well, and we can now walk for about 20 minutes at a clip before he tires. he still favors the leg, and I do believe it will be a long time before he is 100% and able to run without incident, He goes to the Vet next Monday for a check-up!

This project of 365 days has finished, but I'm continuing on with the project which you can see in another set called "Beyond 365 Days with Ozzy". Check it out.

I made two books from this time period. the first book is by Blurb and is the whole project of 365 days with one picture per page. Blurb was the only software that allowed this size volume book. The second book, which actually cost more money, I did with Snapfish. I used the outtakes of the project which were wonderful photos, and art-type photos that didn't make it into the project because, well, you could only use one picture per day. Some days it was very hard to choose. The second book has the other photos, and it is actually a funnier book. The Snapfish book quality isn't very nice and I had to have the book re-done due to a faulty binding. Snapfish did re-print this at no charge, which was great.
