I saw someone use rain gutters to hold spools of ribbons once. It was REALLY cool. Good idea!

I've been wanting to present this idea to my superintendent for the free reading books in my Spanish classroom. Thanks for posting your photo. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Would you be interested in sharing this and other shots of this same window (or you can choose a different window in your home to highlight if you'd prefer) at a group that I started called One Window to the World?

The idea is to take photos all during the year of the same window in our homes and share them with everyone else in the group. Each shot should include at least a portion of the window's frame, so that we get the idea of the window itself, using a variety of photos to showcase the personality of the window and scene beyond.

What might seem commonplace to one person, will be exotic to others in far-away places. I think it will be fun to watch the seasons with others and see the evolution of the changes that go on outside, inside and around our windows. We have 38 countries on 6 continents represented and are growing every day.

This is great! I'm planning to do these in my son's room this week. Can you give me some tips about installing? I've heard/read that you can use brackets or install through the gutter itself? Which did you do? (feel free to PM me if you have time)
There have been studies that show how effective this type of display is for children's literacy development. It's great that it looks good as well! (p.s. I found this photo when googling "how to install rain gutter shelves.")

I did not do this but saw it on the web somewhere a year ago and loved it- wish I could help more!
