Water at the Riverfront
Enforcement agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, working with state and local agencies, have been fighting flooding near the Vidalia Convention Center.
LDWF agents were called out Sunday evening when water breached a HESCO basket barrier that had been protecting the Vidalia Convention Center on the Riverfront below the Mississippi River Bridge. Since then, LDWF has been rotating six agents and boats 24 hours a day to assist with sandbagging efforts and help maintain the makeshift levee at the facility. So far, no water has made it into the facility.
