by LAFD

On August 6, 2024 the Los Angeles City Firefighter and the friends/family of Firefighter/Paramedic Justin Curtis Jr. honored his life at a memorial service at the Sheperd Church in Chatsworth.

Justin passed away on July 27, 2024 after serving the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) for 22 years with unwavering dedication and exceptional bravery. His passing was a tremendous loss not only to his family and friends but to all who had the privilege of working alongside of him.

Assigned to Fire Station 18 on the B Platoon, Firefighter/Paramedic Curtis commenced his LAFD career on February 19, 2002. Justin exemplified the highest standard of service and commitment while working with both the LAFD and the United States Forest Service (USFS). His contributions went beyond his remarkable skills as a Firefighter/Paramedic; he was a mentor, a leader, and a source of inspiration for us all.

Justin was a devoted husband, father, and proud four-year veteran of the United States Army. The void left by his passing is immeasurable, for he leaves behind a legacy that will endure through time. We extend our gratitude for his service and sacrifice to our organization and the communities we serve. We will continue to honor and remember Justin, as he will forever be part of our LAFD.
