071924 - LAFD Air and Ground Crews Halt La Tuna Fire at 43 Acres

TUJUNGA - LAFD fire crews on the ground worked in close tandem with air resources to douse this brush fire that began at approximately 4 p.m. on July 19, 2024. Steep slopes covered in erosion-preventing wire mesh made access very challenging as the fire grew to 30 acres within two hours. Water drops from helicopters were key in getting a handle on the flames initially; ground crews then worked tirelessly in the following days to lay adequate hose lines into the area, manage hot spots, and surround the burned area with fire breaks.
