Mount Rogers Wild Ponies - Jefferson National Forest

Last Sunday, my husband, Adam, and I hiked Mount Rogers, Virginia's highest peak. The summit is only 5729 feet. And while the hike is nine miles, the elevation gain is only around 1100 feet, so it's not a hard hike at all.

Mount Rogers is home to several herds of wild ponies. They are so adorable and extremely friendly. I think they've been fed by one too many hikers to have any fear or wariness about humans.>.
