Bears Like Foliage, Too! - Shenandoah National Park
Despite the crowds of "leaf peepers", Adam and I decided to go hiking in the park on Saturday afternoon. On our way in, we spotted this bear walking on the retaining wall along Skyline Drive. The comical thing was that drivers in the other lane (the one CLOSER to the bear) were zipping by and not even noticing him standing there, despite the fact that he was about three feet away from their passenger side window. Finally, one female driver noticed the bear. She must have said something to her husband, because he looked up from his newspaper. When he did, he was eye to eye with the bear. I don't think he expected that because we saw his silent scream through their car windows. His paper went flying and he practically jumped into his wife's lap. Adam and I giggled about that for the rest of the day.
I took a few shots of the bear from the car, and then we moved on so we wouldn't cause a traffic jam. On our way out, we spotted another bear. We pulled over so we could watch quietly from our car on the other side of the road. A few minutes later, two cars with South Carolina plates pulled over. They saw the bear, too. But instead of watching respectfully, they went crashing into the woods, going after the bear. What is wrong with people?
