Vallejo water tower / The Mac Dre Tower

Where the tower gets it's name. This is a mural of slain Bay Area rapper Mac Dre. This thing is freggin HUGE!!! i stand at like 6 feet tall, and i was a few inches shorter than his glasses, just to give you an idea.

It takes a little bit of determination and willingness to trespass to get in here, but it's well worth it once you're inside.

It requires hoping one fence, walking through LOTS of sharp thorny weeds, and then finding an opening through a second fence which has barbed wire at the top, so no climbing. They constantly patch up holes that get cut, so you have to hope there's an opening when you get there, or you'll be left on the outside.

This is my second time going there. A couple friends showed me the spot a couple years ago, and since i got my camera and found an interest in shooting grafitti, i've been wanting to head back over there, so i finally did.

Lots of great artists have graced the entire perimeter of the tower, and it took forever to take pictures of everything (i'm posting up less than half of what i took, and i didn't get everything). all the way around the tower was a hill covered in weeds, and to get good angles for all those shots with only my 50mm with me, it took a lot of climbing up and down through waist high thorns... all with gym shorts and ankle socks on.
