Crotalus horridus (Canebrake Rattlesnake)

East Louisiana - Summer 2014

The third of six canebrakes for the day. This male canebrake is one we have seen before, and is identified easily by the scar on his face from an old injury. Because of this, we've dubbed him "Rocky" for future encounters.

He was found near a set of tin in the bottoms near the creek. As I walked through the virginia creeper, I must have stepped next to him. Armin saw him starting to crawl up the slope and pointed him out.
