Crotalus lepidus lepidus (Mottled Rock Rattlesnake)

Jeff Davis County, Texas - Spring 2014

The mottled rock rattlesnake occurs in many montane and rocky regions of West Texas. Interestingly, the snakes seem to express a coloration representative of the rocks in their region.

This pinkish specimen was road cruised by a friend in an area with rocks dominant in pink and red hues.
