A fun quirk of the GRDII appears to be that in aperture priority mode, it does not meter continuously, but only on the half-press, so that if you are shooting prefocused and do not bother with a preparatory half-press, you can wind up with entertainingly wrong exposures.
I could be wrong about that, but if so, I cannot account for the camera's behavior in A mode.
That being said, this exposure was not by any means unsalvageable, provided one doesn't mind blown skies. ; )
