31/52: Maisie & Jack Cover
Each year since Maisie was born, I have been making a book of a selection of the best photographs of the children from the year. I have then given one to each set of grandparents as a Christmas present and kept another copy for ourselves.
The hardest part of making a photo book seems to have been deciding on the cover photograph. So this year I've decided to try and make a few photographs with the cover specifically in mind. Here's my first attempt. Space on the right for the imaginative title "Maisie & Jack 2011-2012".
This is a composite of two photographs, one per child. Maisie was sat facing her Mum, Naomi, and Jack was better distracted with an alternative option - Peppa Pig on the iPad!
Lighting was very simple. A strip light to the rear camera right of the kids so that their nearest cheeks weren't lit. A second strip light was also rear camera left just to slightly lift the back of their heads and shoulders out of complete darkness. Even though I set this light to be two stops down from the main light, I still took it down a little further in post.
