breaking dawn : street of los angeles

Location: Van Nuys, CA.

The story behind this breaking dawn shot

I was out driving early morning last year and saw this glorious orange blue sky. So lucky that I had my gear with me on the van. I looked for the best place to take pictures and I was so thrilled. I didn't want to miss this chance.

After taking shots from other locations, I found this street with rows of palm trees and I said YES, this is the place.

There were no cars when I started shooting handheld. But later on, they came through and I let them passed. But finally, when this lone car came, actually it was a small truck, I took the chance and stood my ground taking pictures. The car came close to me and was able to avoid hitting me. He stopped and asked what I was doing in the middle of the street. It was too close for him to call 911.

Just told him I was just taking pictures and he said I should be careful next time. I just told him to look back and see the beautiful sunrise setting and he was amazed. He told me he was also a hobbyist photographer and never had his camera at that time.

To tell you the truth, I was ready to run from my position because I know it was too dark and he might not see me. I was crazy.

After five minutes of this shot, the wonderful sky was gone. And made sure that I ate El Pollo Loco that day for being crazy for a brief moment. Actually, I'm pretty crazy (loco) when I'm taking chances with my shots.
