Scottish aurora
Only seeing daylight a handful of times in winter 2009 due to the short days and long working hours in Aberdeen I started experimenting with night photography to ensure my camera didn't gather too much dust. After witnessing the aurora for the first time in Scotland in August 2010 I have been hooked. It really is possible to see the aurora with the naked eye in the UK but takes a lot of patience and research. The images in the camera however often come out a bit different to what is seen with the eye. The colours tend to be richer with the longer exposure. The long exposure also removes some of the finer details due to movement of the aurora.

I will continue to populate this throughout the solar cycle and hopefully the results will improve as the activity reaches the estimated peak in 2013
