Mrs. FixIt: For PCA "Forced Perspective."

Newer Older

WIT: A ton of patience, a step ladder, my G12 (since it has a swivel screen) and a screwdriver. Queue self timer, a mad dash, a climb, and strategic placement until I got a shot I liked. I had a difficult time with the focus on this one and read up on hyperfocal distances. The basics I got were to focus in front of "infinity" and you'll have more in focus in the foreground. Any input or advice in this area would be GREATLY appreciated! I ended up straightening the shot in PSE (it's still a touch crooked to me), sharpening, cropping and increasing contrast.

I think this is a very, very clever shot! The exposure is correct, the perspective is amusing! I like it. I might cut a little more off the top to the screwdriver isn't so central in the picture. Awesome!

I like your bright green tiny screwdriver. I think your idea is fantastic. For the crop suggestion, I might trim it a bit from the bottom, a little above your elbow and shave a some off the right side to have the screwdriver in the bottom right of a thirds' intersection. You've been outside, I see a tan on your arms. :)

Great shot! You learned, too, how hard it is to be the photographer and the model. Your patience has paid off. Your focus is spot-on. Nicely done for the assignment.

Thank you all for your feedback! I agree that the composition leaves a little to be desired. I've been trying to find a new crop in the original shot that doesn't include my grimace lol.
