Fire: Strong and soft

Last night was the first opportunity I had to play with fire using my camera. So much fun! I practiced with both slow and fast shutter speeds but was most captivated by the waves and swirls of the instant capture. I tweaked my wb to have a magenta/red cast to increase the contrast in addition to making my iso super low so it was just the flames and the coals that could be seen with just the outlines of the logs. I'd hazard to say that there's a juxtaposition of the fire in the beauty and softness of the flames all while exuding incredible strength and destruction.

Beautiful! I can almost feel its warmth!

Yes it is, that's why a moth is drawn to the flame. Very nicely done and spot-on for the theme.

great shot, look at the flames too long and it feels like they are moving...

Nice capture. 1/640 @ ISO 80? Wow, I need to get me a PowerShot, that's impressive.
