Urchin beetle (Prionotheca cornata)

I'm reliably informed that despite raising their asses high in the air whenever they are startled as if they are about to shoot powerful acid at a would-be attacker, these beetles have in fact no defensive tricks and are fair game for the numerous lizards, birds and even snakes that share the desert with them.
