    Here at the ocean's edge, the constant changes at Crissy Field are most visible. Fences get plowed under by the constant blowing sand, and have to be rebuilt. They also change the dune's ecology, penning in some plants. Occasionally, dogs will dig their way under these barriers, disturbing plants. Rangers are constantly repairing the dunes' fences.
