Usually the International Fountain at the Seattle Center is thronged with people playing in the spray as in the first image from the 2011 FolkLife Festival below www.flickr.com/photos/kportin/sets/72157626714175789/ When I visited on this cold January day there were only a couple visitors and the fountain was silent.
This fountain was orginally built in 1961 as part of the Worlds Fair, see second image below www.flickr.com/photos/seattlemunicipalarchives/6802318275/ It was rebuilt in 1995. The fountain has a water capacity of 9,000 gallons, 137 nozzles, 56 microshooters and 4 supershooters plus several 12 minute music shows.
