Litlanesfoss | by James Hastie

This was one of the waterfalls I was really wanting to track down, glad we found it, it was a bit of a trek up and the only shooting points were very precarious, so not a lot of room for composing. I love the basalt columns it flows through. We tried to get further up to Hengifoss but having taken the correct side for Litlanesfoss we weren't able to cross the river to get to a good shooting position, although the rain had started so we wouldn't have gotten much I suspect.

If you want to visit this waterfall from this viewpoint then from the car park cross back over the bridge and go up the right hand hill, don't take the main left side defined path as you cannot cross to this position, it's around 1.5km up, a bit hidden but you should hear it and see the larger basalt cliff face as you near it.
