The Embassy Theatre is Wellington's grand old dame of deluxe cinema. It sports the most breathtaking interior, which was restored and improved for the premieres of the "Lord of the Rings" films.
Originally built in 1924, it has an old world charm, which one has to experience in order to fully appreciate.
The sound is state-of-the-art fantastic and the big comfy leather seats are incredible!! They also allow wines, beers and some other drinks to be taken inside - just to add to your relaxation and enjoyment..
An all round fantastic experience! My favorite cinema!
Recently, director Peter Jackson hosted the New Zealand Premiere of King Kong here. King Kong (and Lord of the Rings) was of course filmed/created mostly in Wellington, which has become the movie capital of New Zealand.
