'67 Mini Cooper

An awesome 67' Mini Cooper owned by Todd Groce shot in South Seattle for the 2009 102.5 KZOK Classic Car Calendar. Todd was awesome to work with and even gave me a ride. I'm finding that cars take much more time than people, and much more work (at least for me) .

It's hard to make this car look as small as it really is without putting something of scale beside it. It's a challenge to have to fill the frame with the car (because it's a calendar shot) while at the same time showing scale. You're right about the back corner blending in, and that was the one thing that really bothered me, but I didn't have a frame where I lit off that corner as well as I'd liked to of. Live and learn. Thanks for the honest feedback

4 images combined? How in the...?

The reflections on cars are hard enough to deal with, but you nailed it (as usual) even with flash! Personally, I really like how the back blends into the shadow, but then again I'm not a strobist.

I might have shot it from a lower POV or higher - the beam off to the right is distracting me a bit.

    Great work Darien.

Wow -- I'm friends with Todd and he asked if I knew of you. When I heard you were shooting his car, I was pretty happy for him. This shot turned out flippin' sweet! You're the right guy to shoot this calendar, definitely. Great work Darien!

Great work. You asked our thoughts on the other shot. I like the background (nice angled wood w/ orange sunset) better than the graffiti wall), but I like the brick alleyway much better than the dirt in front of the cool angled wood.
