Meet Barbie. Model and traveler extraordinaire. She was in from Vegas on business so I had the pleasure of shooting with her. I had this idea in my head of a girl in a bikini in downtown Seattle stopping traffic. I forget the small details...like it's February and about 38 degrees outside. We decided that a dress might be a better bet to start with, as there were so many people, and we had already been given a talking to by the police.
I set up two speedlights on one lightstand outside of the frame to the right for rim light. I put another speedlight on a lightstand with a white umbrella and had Ogalthorpe act as a human boom. We would time it so that when the crosswalk turned to walk, we'd all run out into the intersection...Barbie would throw off her long overcoat and hand it to Ogie...who would also be manning the lightstand as a boom....we'd take as many shots as we could until the lights turned again. The cars that were wanting to turn around me weren't that happy, but hey.....I got my shot.
