Purple bells

I'm not sure what these are! I don't remember planting them, either. Unexpected and so pretty, whatever they are!

I believe they are grape hyacinth, Vicki. I'm seeing new/more bulbs this year in the yard. Perhaps this winter's thaw brought them closer to the surface for blooming?

    Yup, grape hyacinth.

A third vote for grape hyacinths.

Thanks everyone! It seems to me I had grape hyacinth elsewhere... and earlier... but perhaps that was something else. ; ) I used to be more on top of the plant identification (and also, things sure seem to bloom a lot where they are NOT planted... which isn't altogether bad, just makes for a gardener who scratches her head a lot).
