Two GEs lead a BNSF coal load across Main Street in Burlington, IA this past June. Really different watching the trains snake through Burlington with the new whistle ban. Just not the same without the horn bouncing off the abandoned downtown buildings.
Burlington is really different from the good ol' days according to my dad. The railroading in town has changed quite a bit, according to my dad's pics. and stories. My grandfather retired as a BN yardmaster here when the yard (and town itself) was much more active. At least a mainline and passenger train still pass through.
