Today is Vishu, the Malayalam New Yer Day, when Sun enters the house, Mesha or Aries. People in Kerala celebrate this day by viewing the best things in life such as, bushel full of golden grains, yellow flowers of Amaltas, gold, pictures of God, golden coloured fruits, etc. In Delhi, Amaltas have not started flowering and I do not have much gold. My golden grain, wheat harvested a few days back is lying in the field and it has rained twice since harvest. Sun is playing truant and I might suffer huge losses. So, to cheer my spirits, I went out birding today. No sun, dark cloudy sky and no birds!
This image of the Green Bee-eater (Merops orientalis) is the only decent takeaway from today's birding.
Who knows? Green Bee-eaters may be lucky for me!
