Mirrored Mosaic Bus, American Visionary Art Museum (Baltimore)

The American Visionary Art Museum is among the best art museums I've ever seen (I'd rank it - in overall experience - among the likes of the Louvre, Washington's National Gallery, the MoMA, the Met, Chicago's Art Institute, etc.). And I'm a museum lover.

 

But it's not the big names and text-book pieces that amaze me at the AVAM, but the ingenuity, hard work, resiliently creative spirit, and repurposing of unexpected materials that really makes the whole thing astonishing. Various unknown artists are featured and nearly every work made me say a delighted, "Oh, wow." We couldn't take pictures inside, but the outside is a treat in itself.
