Humboldt Mountains, South Island, New Zealand

    Newer Older

The Humboldt Mountains, part of the Southern Alps of the South Island of
New Zealand. Photo taken on the popular hiking trail known as the Routeburn Track. This viewpoint was opened up after a massive slip exposed the rock face, and therefore a clear view of this gorgeous divide. We had had lunch down there on the river flat, just a few hours earlier.

It was indeed Jono, and a rare fine view, mostly it's raining down there :-)

Did it 5 years ago. Had a dramatic helicopter rescue on the 2nd day that lifted us up over a ridge and dropped us on the other side where we continued. A stunner experience.

I have run it more than 100 times.
