The main bog area. The land slopes gently down from the farms. The margins are surrounded with buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis). Note that the bog has unfortunately been completely taken over by a grass (possibly bermudagrass, but I'm terrible at identifying Poaceae). You can still feel the Sphagnum hummocks underfoot as you walk through the dry grass meadow, but if you dig through the grass, none survives underneath it.
