My son woke up this morning at 4 something AM, and I was already planning on catching the sunrise.
The tide was very low here at Rathtrevor Beach so I wandered down from the resort to catch a few shots. I didn't have my long lens with me, so I had to slowly sneak up on this Heron to get this shot. I ended up around 500 m from the shoreline, ankle deep in water.
The islands in the background are actually one island called Thormansby Island. Simson Marine Provincial Park is on the southern point of it and right where the reflection of the sunrise is Buccaneer Bay, a small populated village that isn't even found on most maps. Might have to plan to visit it one day. The fog just beyond it is Halfmoon Bay which is just northwest of Sechelt. Based on my geography, I'd say the sun is rising directly above Secret Cove.
This is my all time personal favorite photo of mine.
