Putnam Smith with Seth Yentes accompanying
March 14th 2008 Putnam Smith Putnam Smith stopped by the other day to play on the show and brought along a great pure bred Mainah to accompany him on cello the very talented Seth Yentes. Most of these were taken post show here @ WMPG here in Portland, Maine.

Putnam has been up here for a while now migrating from Brooklyn , NY where he certainly cut some teeth on old time and roots based tunes. He has had long Maine ties so itis fitting he now lives up this way.
This tune is called "Hummingbird Song" is one of the 13 tracks off his latest disc; this blue. As he states near the end he was playing his grandfather 's banjo, real banjo lineage now that's different & Rare.

We had been corresponding over the last few months but this was the first time we'd met face to face, it was a good session on the air. We found a caller reminding us that Seth had played with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and regional rock heavyweights Rustic Overtones , never mind running for state legislature, working the family farm/ orchard and playing a a duo with his brother.

A great visit always great to hear great music and chill post show with interesting musicians
