The View from the Window
So I went to the glacier lagoon fireworks show again! Nice to get some quality R&R-photo-time with the buddies. I shot a few frames, but probably won't be uploading all of them on to Flickr - I don't want to break my habit of super rare uploads. 8-)
But fear not! On my favourite photo forum is a thread containing a few of my shots, along with shots from my friends who were with me.
Every year now there's a big fireworks display on the mighty Glacier Lagoon (Jökulsárlón), giving you an unforgettable experience of sound and vision. I truly believe that this night alone justifies a visit to Iceland, and recommend that those who can, get their butt over here for next years show. I'll be uploading a shot from the fireworks display shortly to back up my claims :-)
PS. The geotagging that's included in this upload was made automatically with the new GP-E2 gps receiver for the 5D III / 7D / 1D X bodies. It works amazingly well, and Lightroom has a "reverse geotagging" feature which looks up the proper names for that given location. I didn't lift a finger, unless of course when I pulled my debit card out of my wallet when buying the thing. One piece of AA battery gave me almost 40hrs of automatic geotagging & logging. Not only does the GP-E2 stamp your photos with coordinates, but also has the ability to log your entire trip, if you choose so. I highly recommend it for 5D3/7D/1DX owners. Note: Flickr's map of Iceland is horribly inaccurate though, so don't be surprised to see some of my stuff out on the ocean.
