Vanitas Still Life with Pochette and Cicada

Here is my website Kevin Best Still Life Photographer

This is the first shot from my new studio!

I’ve converted my attic into a studio and it works really well.

The Pochette, also known as a Kit violin or Dance Masters violin is hard to find, so I made this one, the carved dragon neck came from China.

In ancient China they would place a jade Cicada on the tongue of a dead person in the hope that, like the Cicada, he or she would be raised from the ground.

The candlestick is from the mid 1500’s, very rare and with a lovely feel.
