this is an original photographic print : taken by the great photographer John Maltby ( whose commission included photographing the exterior and interior of every Odeon cinema for their opening ).
this cinema frontage has been preserved and is " around the corner "

    yep : it's amazing how many great picture palaces were left to get in such states of disrepair before the shut down ! at least now the tide is changing with some re-opening ( Rex www.therexberkhamsted.com/ )

    St Albans Odeon/Capitol/Alpha too.... shows what can be done !

    I had some great times here as a schoolkid. When I moved to Faversham in Kent in the late '80s, entering the old mock-tudor cinema ('The Royal') there gave me a stunning flashback to the Walpole - no trusses and smaller, but still quite a shock :)
