What does it mean?

Well, it means a large system of tropical moisture pushed into the San Diego area from the southeast, as it often does in September or October, and when it condensed and fell from the upper level clouds, near sunset, the light was able to be reflected by the raindrops back at the viewer…

Just google "atmospheric optics" for a complete, illustrated explanation of how rainbows work.

13-shot panorama spanning ~240 degrees shot on iPhone4 (non-HDR) and assembled in-phone using AutoStitch.

I did a better job of getting to the sunset tonight than last night, and I even brought my big camera. But its battery was dead, since I forgot to charge it after shooting the QC25 thing. So I shot everything with my iPhone. The best camera is the one you have with you. With a charged battery.
