Carrizo Plain Canyon Sunset, California
This was an image from one of my longer adventures to get an image. In total I spent almost six hours finding this place and was very scared to get bitten by a rattlesnake here. I have never seen so many wildflowers in one place and no spaces between - it was a complete carpet of flowers. I had seen something close to this my someone else and had emailed them for some hints of where to go. I did not find it but I was able to find this place which was not actually in Carrizo Plain but on the back of it and a place I do not think many people have ever seen before. At the time I took this it was very dark and again I used fill flash to freeze the action in the foreground as the wind was moving too much. I also liked the darker mood reflections off the canyon walls with the darker mood and the lit up foreground.
Update:
I have joined forces with some amazing landscape photographers from the Pacific Northwest who are a bunch of great people as well; to see some images from this new group please visit us at Photo Cascadia Fan Page
