For most of the night it was just green but at this time purples, reds, and blues became visible as well. This was shot from a lookout tower on Blue Mound, the highest point in southern Wisconsin. I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to make the 4 hour drive up here to watch the aurora. With severe thunderstorms predicted for Illinois, this part of Wisconsin was just barely clear of clouds.
