365/366 - Scouting For Curry
(28th August 2012) - With today being the penultimate day, my thoughts turned to what my last picture would be. I hadn't really allowed myself to think this far ahead and rather than come up with some difficult abstract idea, I quickly settled on something which I would be able to do quite easily. I did however need to buy a few things first, and so I spent my lunchtime in town.
I managed to find what I needed with relative ease which gave me the luxury of being able to spend a bit of time walking around the Northern Quarter, deciding which curry place I was going to buy my lunch from. Instead of the usual This and That, I opted for two curries and rice from Kabana, mainly because the curries from there are spicier!
The meal was massive and even hours later when I got home, I was feeling pretty bloated. Unfortunately I had no time to rest as I only had 30 minutes to change into my football gear and then get to the pitch. And to make matters worse, Waseem had booked football for two hours. Despite the poor preparation, I had a game which was in stark contrast to last week's game. I played amazingly well! My movement was back, running up and down the pitch and being in good positions, my ball control was back too as I was able to spend most of the time with the ball looking up rather than at the ball and perhaps most importantly, my goal-scoring ability was back too, as I managed to put away around 15 or so goals.
Two goals in particular stand out. First was a volley into the top corner, and another where I intercepted a pass, burst forward holding off a couple of challenges, and then shimmying in between two defenders before wrong-footing the keeper and putting the ball just inside the near post. It was so good, it drew applause from the rest of the players!
It felt just like how I used to play years ago, and it was a real confidence boost as I look to get fitter.
