Something Wicked This Way Comes
Oh...I just love it when a plan comes together. Well, actually...this wasn't that much of a plan...it happened far too quickly...more like shoot desperately and hope you've captured 'the moment' that you knew you'd just seen.
This is Benny Young as Ebenezer Scrooge in 'A Christmas Carol' by National Theatre of Scotland at Film City (the old Govan Town Hall) in Glasgow, directed by Graham McLaren.
In this scene, Scrooge had gone to bed for the night...and then hears a noise...which was the harbinger of the arrival of the Ghost of Christmas Past. There was only really a single light source...and as he turned around...the light caught his eyes and nose...in a rather dramatic way.
It was a moment when, as a photographer, you want to become the director and shout "Freeze!", but that's not an option (not if I want to return to a future photo call!)
Still, this rather captures the atmosphere I think? I love this shot personally...just captures the magic of a dramatic moment on stage, if I do say so myself. :-)
This was taken at 1/100 sec at f/2.8 at ISO 12,800
