Palm Springs Doll House Night Club
When I was about 7 or 8 years old I would ride my bike for miles out into the desert. Exploring was something I always had on mind as I do today and one day I came across an old weathered shack out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dunes. I walked inside and started looking around. The place was covered in spiderwebs and thick in sand and dust. There did not seem to be much anything of interest until I noticed a big pile hidden under inches of sand was several yellow boxes of the weirdest looking film I had ever seen. There was about seven boxes made by Kodak and they were dated mid 1950s. I took them outside and held them to the sunlight and images from a time long ago were revealed. What were they I wondered? I quickly grabbed them all and took them home and showed my dad. He was not so sure so we asked a neighbor friend of ours and together we were able to figure out that it was some kind of celebrity function at a place called the Doll House Night Club that had not existed for a few decades. At the time I had discovered these they were less than 30 years old. So I held onto them and waited for the technology to come to share them with the world. Now, after 50 years later......more than after half a century of time has passed with downloading the negatives, inverting the images on Photoshop you can see a window into the past of old Palm Springs, Ca of a mysterious celebrity function at the Doll House Night Club. There is still questions unawnsered as to who these people exactly may have been and what they were celebrating? What ever it was there looks like there was more than 500 people who attended it. The film is odd and no developer at the time of my discovery could develop it so I waited and here they are. If anyone out there knows more about what this function was and a little history about the club it would be great to know? I believe this is a valuable piece of Palm Springs history had I know found these would have been memories long forgotten to the sands of time.
