Lower Emerald Pools Trail, Zion National Park

This easy, paved 1.2 mile hike (round trip) leads to the Lower Emerald Pool, a spectacular pool at the base of an alcove. Although it is always wet, during the spring or other wet periods, there is a pretty spectacular waterfall. Today the waterfall was pretty active. The trail becomes less developed behind the falls (and it is easy to walk behind the falls under the alcove, although it can get really, really muddy). The trail continues on to the equally spectacular Upper Emerald Pool, which has a taller, more spectacular waterfall during the right times of year.
