Fluffy and Gritty

I really like this view of Chicago, it's not seen that much but it is very iconic of Chicago - showing its industrial side as well as it's world-class skyline. This is a view from the southside of downtown showing the railroad tracks coming and going into the city. The railroad was vital to the development of Chicago. The first railroad constructed out of Chicago, the Galena and Chicago Union, was chartered January 16, 1836, to connect Chicago with the lead mines at Galena. Eventually other railroads were built and Chicago became the largest railroad center in the world.
