Castle Sunset - Mono Lake, California
Here's a vertical from Mono. Nothing super exciting to report about the story behind the shot... oh well, there is but it's kind of an you had to be there story. ApCad workshop, group sets up around the tufa towers at the South Shore and Brian takes some people into the, let's call it "unsafe" part of the shore, north of the wood paved entry to the shore.
Fast-forward 20 minutes and some images later. Brian comes back to meet with the group, grinning... I mean, with a grin as wide as a crescent moon. Let's face it, he was laughing his ass off. Of course we were begging to hear the story but he couldn't tell us because he was laughing so hard. Then, a good 5 minutes later, we got some sort of answer... we figured, he was trying to say we should just wait...
We waited and there they were... Two workshop students, covered in a smelly, boggy mass of Mono which was trying to swallow both of them. Fed by underground springs, clusters of poop-scented brown, icky substance build up under the swampy ground and from time to time find more food in the adventure-seeking unwary photographer. You know who you are.
I hope to post one more before running down to Arches and Canyonlands with the Ruebster next week.
