While the notum looks tuburculate (at least the dots), the yellow coloration and lack of a white line along the edge of the notum seem to suggest B. strongi instead of B. californica, which would be pretty cool b/c I've never seen B. strongi in NorCal. That said, the weird pattern on the notum actually looks exactly like the picture of B. agassizii in Behrens & Hermosillo, which apparently shouldn't occur north of Baja, and should be reddish brown. Jeff, Brenna, and anyone else: opinions?


This was hanging out above the water in a channel. Sadly I did not note if it was on a food source.
