I didn't really know what mistletoe was until I moved to California. It warmed my cold little heart to learn that it was a guano-born sap-sucking parasite. It's fruit are weird too, and apparently shoot out explosively (I think I may have inadvertently tested this when squeezing one). Now that I think about it though, why would they have explosive seeds if they're distributed by birds? Is it only the oak species that rely on birds?
