Kawagoe, Saitama prefecture

Each area of Japan has it's very own unique drain covers. Often they are also painted in bright colours and can be quite a work of art.

They often feature historical places or events unique to the area and many are renewed now and then to commemorate a certain event.

Some are dated so that it is easy to see when the event occured.

I try to remember to take photos of the unique drains that each area of Japan has, but I often forget. Here is a collection of those that I remember to photograph from right across Japan from Gunma prefecture down to Kyõto prefecture.
