For the Love of Song

I think our profound connection to music and song is primal, universal in all cultures. Perhaps we share certain 'musical' genes with our distant avian cousins. This Yellow Warbler seemed to be celebrating the arrival of Yukon spring with a joyful song. (Actually he was claiming the area around him as his breeding territory.)
The photo was taken in a willow thicket beside the Yukon River near Carmacks, central Yukon. A lucky shot, the bird was extremely close and the willows were moving about in a strong wind, somewhat challenging to find him, then focus with the long lens. Technical: hand-held, 500mm, iso 100, f6.3, 1/250 using the Sigma 150-500 telephoto lens. I first envisioned this shot about 3 years ago. Several thousand tries later, I finally got it. They don't come easy.
