An Ode to Sunny Days in June
The water in this lake is crystal clear, its unique blue-green colour the result of light reflected from the white-marl bottom. We have had a cloudy, cool and wet June, so on those rare sunny days, I try to get out and do some landscape photography.
Technical: In addition to using a graduated neutral density filter, I took several exposures, then hand-blended them in Photoshop CS5 to obtain optimal dynamic range and colour. An alternative to hand-blending the different exposures is to use HDR software, a method I employed for the image below. Hand-blending seems to produce slightly better results than HDR.
