Nares Mountain

Seen here is a spring view of this majestic mountain that overlooks the small town of Carcross, 50k south of Whitehorse. This was the day the leaves came out on the aspens. Most of the year, the area in the foreground is Nares Lake, but in late May, just after ice-off on the big lakes, the water levels are at their lowest and only a small sliver of the lake is visible on the dried-up lake bed. Ancient oral tradition of the local Tlingit people refers to this mountain in the female form and I think a story of creation. I'm going by my memory on that, as I can't find any literature. I must have heard that legend from a story-teller. More images below:
